     Masha specialises in 2 printmaking techniques: linocut and wood engraving. Linocut involves chiseling a design into a linoleum surface that is then inked with a brayer and produces an image when pressed onto paper. All of Masha's prints are individually printed by hand, one by one, using a beautiful cast iron antique press made in 1868. That means that there are slight differences between the prints in the same edition depending on the amount of ink, the pressure applied etc, making each print a unique and original piece of art. 

     Masha also makes wood engravings by engraving with very sharp finely-pointed tools into a mirror-smooth surface of an endgrain block (lemonwood or pear wood). The surface is then inked up and the image is printed onto paper by applying pressure to the back of the paper. Masha is an elected member of The Society of Wood Engravers.
