Auld Reekie (misprints)

I have some slight "seconds"  of my  "Old Reekie" linocut for sale - they didn't make the edition due to imperfections, either over-inked or underinked or slightly patchy, or a bit of stray ink outside the image - please see the closeups for details.

Original linocut "Auld Reekie" - a love letter to the city of Edinburgh, where I've lived for the past 20 years. Some time in the 18th century the city was affectionately nicknamed Auld Reekie (Scots for "Old Smoky"), for the views from the country of the smoke-covered Old Town.

Carved on linoleum and handprinted with oil-based ink in rich black on beautiful heavyweight printmaking paper Somerset.

This is my most ambitious and labour-intensive linocut, which has taken over 140 hours to design and carve. I studied  the magical art of Celtic knotwork and tried to create my own version of Celtic-inspired design for the border.

Image size 30x30 cm, paper size appr 40x39cm.

Deckled edges so can be framed mounted or unmounted (with exposed edges).

Signed proofs.

Due to the large size will be shipped carefully wrapped in acid-free tissue and cellophane and rolled in a sturdy postal tube  to ensure safe delivery.
