This listing is for a colour proof of my latest wood engraving "September" - an original handprinted 14-colour wood engraving from the "months of the year" series. Engraved on lemonwood with additional colours added with blocks of lino. 
"September" is printed from 4 different blocks. I had to print a lot of proofs to finalise the colours of each layer and this print is a little bit darker than the rest of the edition.
 
Wood engraving is a form of relief printmaking. The image is engraved with very sharp finely-pointed tools into a mirror- smooth surface of an end grain block. The surface is then inked up and the image is printed onto paper. I print my wood engravings on an antique cast iron hand press made in 1868. 
 
Handprinted in highly-pigmented oil-based ink on  smooth white paper Liber Charta.
